Bullying In The Technology Age

Bullying has been a persistent problem for humans throughout history. Power struggles can lead people to drastic actions. This mindset fosters negative behaviors, one of which is bullying. Weakness invites domination by the strong. Those who bully pass this mindset and behavior to their offspring. Children who observe bullying often become bullies themselves, as they come to see such behavior as normal and acceptable. Over the years, society has transformed. In the same way, bullying has evolved and now appears in a significantly more vicious form.

Easy Access

There was a time when children could feel safe in their homes. There was a time when no outside influence had unlimited access to their victims. Children today are much more vulnerable to outside influences. The internet and cellphones have been a way for bullies to torment their victims in new and more dangerous ways. Children under the age of 12 are committing suicide at alarming rates because of this constant onslaught of taunts, threats, and harassment. Technology is used to create fake material of the victim and have it shared across a community in a matter of minutes.
